The Lotus 3

"My third panel is finished. A tangle of lotus plants is swept away in an underwater current. We admire the blooming flower from above, not knowing about the many that suffer and never reach that promised land, the warmth of transcendence.

The work is gritty, with deep scarring from both the small and large levigator. … I must show the invisible anguish caused by the storm in the murkiness below, and yet, keep the darkness transparent enough for the eye to caress the shapes of the suffering lotus."
